Bursztyn Unity – Jantar Unity’s Younger Sister Ship
A Modern Passenger and Freight Ferry
Bursztyn Unity is the second in a series of modern passenger and freight ferries built for a Polish shipowner. The vessel was constructed by Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa im. J. Piłsudskiego S.A., part of the Remontowa Holding Group.
Bursztyn Unity is the sister ship of Jantar Unity, which entered regular service on the Baltic Sea in 2026. Both ferries share the same technical specifications and transport capacities. Their design has been developed to ensure efficient passenger and freight transport between Poland and Sweden. The construction of the vessel was the result of cooperation between Polish designers, shipbuilders and equipment suppliers.
Bursztyn Unity was delivered to the shipowner on 23 October 2026, following the successful completion of sea trials. This marks another important step in the development of modern ferry connections across the Baltic Sea.
Smart Design and Excellent Manoeuvrability
The ferry measures 195.6 metres in length and 32.2 metres in width. With approximately 4,100 cargo lane metres, the vessel offers efficient use of space for vehicle transport. Bursztyn Unity can accommodate up to 400 passengers and has a crew of approximately 50.
The vessel is equipped with two azimuth thrusters at the stern and two bow thrusters. This configuration ensures precise manoeuvring and makes port operations more efficient, enhancing safety and reducing time spent in port.
Hybrid Propulsion and Energy Efficiency
Bursztyn Unity is equipped with four dual-fuel engines operating on LNG (liquefied natural gas) and marine diesel oil. The propulsion system operates in a hybrid configuration supported by battery power, allowing for more efficient energy management and reduced fuel consumption.
These advanced solutions are also designed to minimise exhaust emissions and the vessel's environmental impact. Bursztyn Unity complies with IMO Tier III standards for nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
Comfort on Board
The passenger areas include comfortable cabins, including premium-standard cabins and accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities, as well as reclining seats (aircraft-type) and spacious public areas.
Passengers can enjoy dedicated relaxation areas and a range of food and beverage facilities. Modern ventilation and air-conditioning systems ensure a comfortable environment throughout the voyage.
Together with Jantar Unity, Bursztyn Unity represents a new generation of modern passenger and freight ferries in the POLSCA Baltic Ferries fleet, supporting the continued development of ferry connections between Poland and Sweden.
